About Messy Middle Financial Coaching

Head shot

Real life. Real money. Real progress.

If you feel like you should be further along financially — but aren’t sure how you got here or what to do next — you’re not alone.

That “messy middle” is exactly where most people live.

Messy Middle Financial Coaching exists to help people move from financial stress and uncertainty to clarity, confidence, and control — without shame, judgment, or complicated financial jargon.

My Background

Hi. I’m Justin Rainey. I’m a financial coach with a passion for helping people understand their money in a way that actually makes sense.

I’ve spent years working with financial tools, retirement plans, investments, benefits, and real-world money decisions. But what I’ve learned is this:

Most people don’t need more information. They need clear guidance, a simple plan, and someone to walk alongside them.

I started Messy Middle Financial Coaching to focus on exactly that — helping everyday people make smart, confident decisions with the money they already have.

My Coaching Style

My approach is:

  • No-nonsense
  • Common sense
  • Easy to understand

This isn’t about fancy strategies or chasing perfect outcomes. It’s about building a solid foundation, one step at a time.

I break complex topics into plain English, help you see what actually matters, and guide you through decisions so you can move forward with confidence — not guesswork.

Who I Work Best With

I specialize in working with two types of clients:

People in the “Messy Middle”

These are people who:

  • Make decent money but still feel behind
  • Feel stressed or unsure about retirement
  • Have debt, competing priorities, or financial blind spots
  • Are tired of worrying about money and want a clear plan
Young Adults Getting Started

These are people who:

  • Are early in their careers
  • Want to build good habits from the start
  • Don’t want to wake up one day already in the messy middle
  • Want guidance without being talked down to

People work with me because I:

  • Make money feel less intimidating
  • Explain things without talking down
  • Focus on progress, not perfection
  • Meet you where you are, not where you “should” be

There's no judgement here. Just clarity, structure, and steady forward movement.
